What better time to start a non profit blog than on tax day April 15th! Hopefully everyone saved on their taxes by making generous contributions to their favorite charity.
Since this is THEARC'S first post, let me give you some background. THEARC is a combined educational, social, cultural and health services campus located east of the Anacostia River in
southeast Washington, DC's ward 8. Since its official opening in October 2005, THEARC has
already served thousands of residents of the surrounding Southeat DC Community and has
spurred community redevelopment. The state-of-the-art theatre at THEARC is steadily booked for events such as community movie days & sing-alongs, art shows, graduations, professional theatre productions, concerts, master classes, fashion shows and community meetings.
The nine non profit partners that make up THEARC are: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, Children's National Medical Center, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Covenant House Washington, Levine School of Music, Parklands Community Center, Trinity (Washington, DC) University,The Washington Ballet and Washington Middle School for Girls.
Thru this blog we hope to give you an inside view of how the collaboration between the nine
partners is working and the daily adventures we have here at THEARC. For more in depth
