OVERWEIGHT CHILDREN AN EPIDEMIC? PART 2

"Latrisha is determined, but she is a child of Ward 8, where a poor and young African American trying to lose weight faces unique challenges. More than half the children in the ward are overweight or obese, according to Rand Corp." states Steve Hendrix and Hamil R. Harris, Washington Post writers in a series of articles titled Young Lives At Risk/Our Overweight Children. Fortunately for Latrisha she can run in the gym at a Boys and Girls Club in Southeast Washington. Along with The Boys and Girls Club there are eight other non profit partners here at THEARC in S.E.Washington, DC that offer a variety of programs for children living in wards 7 and 8.

Boys and Girls Club Mission Statement-
