If you enjoy dancing or want just plan old exercise The Washington Ballet has just released their summer schedule for adults here at THEARC. No experience necessary just come and enjoy! All classes are drop-in; no registration required. $10 per class or ask for a class card special. The schedule is as follows:

It is a $27 million 110,000 square foot center on 16.5 acres of land in Southeast Washington, DC. THEARC provides a daily safe haven for the children it serves, with a wide range of arts, educational, recreational, health programs and services. In addition there is a 365-seat theatre (the only theatre east of the Anacostia River) a regulation size gymnasium, computer lab, art gallery, state-of-the-art music and dance studios.

THEARC is very fortunate to have volunteers that love working with children. Just this week a group of our volunteers held a Summer Fun Day for them. The activities included a slip & slide, hair braiding, making balloon characters and of course no Summer Fun Day is complete without ice cream sundaes!

THEARC’S ANGEL
“Angel really is an angel—and I want to take care of her. Thanks to THEARC, she has options now that she just wouldn’t have had before,” says Ruth, Angel’s grandmother.
WHO IS ANGEL?
Angel is a 9-year-old student who a few years ago didn’t have many options when it came to her future. Unable to care for Angel, her mother sent her to live with her grandmother. Now, after just a little more than two years with THEARC’s Washington Ballet program, Grandma Ruth says “…Angel is a bubbly, joyful child who is friendly to everyone she meets.” A dedicated student of ballet, Angel loves her teachers and new friends and looks forward to a bright future.

A LEAP OF FAITH
With no tickets in hand, Hector left his home at 3:00 a.m. yesterday on a leap of faith that he would somehow get tickets to attend mass with the Pope at the Washington National's Stadium. Clinging to his faith that his efforts would be rewarded, Hector stood in the security line.
A leap of faith is what it took to create THEARC.
No where else in the country has nine non profit
organizations partnered together to bring their
variety of programs and services to a community.
THEARC also has a 365 seat community theatre, the only theatre east of the Anacostia River in Washington, DC.
To build an endowment of the size needed to serve the interests and needs of the participating organizations and the community, a campaign "raising $10 from 1 million people" was started.
Donating to the One In A Million Campaign with a gift as small as $10 will help sustain a facility and the community services within to survive and thrive from generation to generation.
Oh and Hector?-he was featured on Fox Five news proudly holding two tickets to the mass in his hand!
